AutoVision News Radio was pleased to support Solectrix during a live presentation exploring the future of embedded vision, emerging tools, and new approaches to image processing. The discussion examined how software-defined image processing and rapid prototyping can help engineers respond to changing requirements while reducing development time, cost, and integration challenges.

Solectrix and SXIVE 2.0

Solectrix GmbH is a German engineering company specializing in customized electronics and embedded systems, with automotive expertise spanning camera systems, image processing, sensor integration, and electronic control units.

At the center of the presentation was SXIVE 2.0, Solectrix’s Rapid Imaging Prototyping System. The latest version brings together several tools for developing, configuring, calibrating, and evaluating embedded imaging systems.

SXIVE SoftISP SDK

The SXIVE SoftISP SDK provides a flexible image-processing toolkit that can be adapted to different image sensors and lenses. It includes optimized image-processing algorithms and supports custom algorithms, giving engineers greater control over the image-processing pipeline.

SXIVE Calibration SDK

The SXIVE Calibration SDK helps correct image characteristics including color, lens distortion, and lens shading. Solectrix designed the tool to simplify the calibration process, while its C++ library allows integration into existing development workflows. It can also be used with other existing ISPs without the SXIVE SoftISP SDK.

SXIVE Sensor Configuration Tool

The open-source SXIVE Sensor Configuration Tool provides an interface for configuring image-sensor registers. The tool can be adapted to different sensors and expanded by developers based on their project requirements.

iQ-Analyzer-X

The iQ-Analyzer-X software from Image Engineering adds image-quality analysis to SXIVE 2.0. It can evaluate factors including resolution, noise, color accuracy, lens distortion, dynamic range, and texture loss, while automated test-target detection helps streamline analysis.

SXIVE Hardware Bundles

For teams looking for a quicker development start, Solectrix also offers pre-configured and tested SXIVE hardware bundles. The Hardware Bundle LT is a compact platform based on NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, while the higher-performance HP Bundle is designed for more demanding multi-camera and ISP evaluation. Both include a proFRAME frame grabber and Linux development environment.

The panel also explored why image quality is increasingly important for automotive perception systems. As the speakers discussed, factors such as low contrast, noise, HDR performance, and sensor degradation can affect how reliably a vision system detects objects and responds to its surroundings.
