Mazda North American Operations is teaming up with AAA and HAAS Alert to help protect stranded drivers during an unexpected breakdown or crash.
When a Mazda owner requests roadside assistance through the MyMazda app or by phone, AAA dispatches a local provider. Meanwhile, drivers in supported markets with Safety Cloud-connected vehicles or navigation apps can receive a "Slow Down, Move Over" alert warning them a vehicle is stopped ahead.
Even off to the shoulder, a stopped or stalled vehicle is still at risk of being struck by an approaching driver who doesn't notice in time. "Real-world safety doesn't end when the crash is over or when a customer pulls over to the shoulder," said Jennifer Morrison, Mazda's Director of Vehicle Safety Strategy.
The feature is available now on eligible Mazda vehicles with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
"We're extending the protection of a Mazda vehicle to not only our customers, but also to everyone on the road around it," Morrison added.
As part of the announcement, AAA underscored that safety is at the center of everything it does for its members, people, and partners.
"AAA advances roadside safety for motorists and service technicians through collaboration with companies like HAAS Alert to warn drivers of roadside incidents and encourage them to slow down and move over," said Cliff Ruud, Managing Director of Automotive Services at AAA.
